Maileg Bunnies and Rabbits - An Introduction
Whether you’re just starting your Maileg collection or adding a new friend to your mouse household, this guide will help you navigate the Maileg rabbit and bunny universe. We’ll help you understand the different sizes, explain what makes a rabbit different from a bunny, and explore how both fit into the Maileg miniature world.
Maileg rabbits and bunnies are often overlooked in favour of the much-loved mice, but they’re a beautiful and thoughtful part of the Maileg miniature world.
If you’re new to Maileg, rabbits and bunnies can feel a little confusing. What causes confusion is that rabbits and bunnies come in several different sizes. Some sizes can live alongside mice, some belong to a larger miniature scale, whilst others are not miniature at all - in fact, some bunnies and rabbits are huge!
This guide helps demystify rabbits and bunnies and is part of our wider Maileg miniatures knowlege base, where we explore mice, dolls’ houses, furniture and imaginative play.

Why rabbits and bunnies belong in your Maileg collection
In our opinion, a Maileg rabbit or bunny is every bit as essential to your collection as a Maileg mouse. Here's why:
- rabbits and bunnies expand storytelling possibilities
- they add visual variety
- they feel timeless and heirloom-like
- they appeal to both children and adult collectors
- the new style micro bunnies and rabbits launched in AW25 are especially cute!
What’s the difference between a Maileg rabbit and a Maileg bunny?

It's all about the ears!
- Bunnies have floppy ears that hang downwards
- Rabbits have ears that point upwards
This applies to all sizes of Maileg rabbit/bunny from the tiniest MY size to the tallest size 5 rabbit.

Maileg Rabbits & Bunnies: Old style versus New Style
Maileg gave the micro bunnies and rabbits a new look in Autumn Winter 2025. The new styles have a more delicate aesthetic, making them the perfect companions for your Maileg mice.
Maileg rabbit and bunny sizes in the Maileg world
Maileg rabbits and bunnies come in several different sizes, and this is where most of the confusion begins.
Some rabbits and bunnies are small enough to live alongside Maileg mice, sharing furniture, accessories, and even clothes. Others are designed for Maileg’s bigger dolls’ houses and furniture, labelled Miniature. And others are much larger standalone soft toys.
Because size affects everything - from which kitchen to buy to which dolls house works - it’s essential to understand rabbit and bunny sizing before you start building a miniature home for them.
